The Industrial Light and Magic effects expert was nominated for the best visual effects award for his work on Marvel’s Doctor Strange — for which he and his fellow team members also received an Oscar nomination.

But despite the superhero caper missing out on both, with the hotly-tipped live action/CGI version of The Jungle Book taking a double victory, Richard and Nicola gathered plenty of unforgettable memories.

“The BATFAs were amazing,” said Nicola.

“It was a weekend I'll never forget, meeting some very talented people, including the visual effects nominees from Dr Strange, Fantastics Beasts and Rogue One.

“We also saw Emma Stone, Amy Adams and Hugh Grant at Kensington Palace.”
