Republic of Ireland call-up for Rotherham United's Chiedozie Ogbene

ROTHERHAM United's Chiedozie Ogbene has been called up by the Republic of Ireland for the first time.

The winger is included in manager Stephen Kenny's squad for two international friendlies against Andorra in Barcelona on June 3 and away to Hungary on June 8.

Ogbene, who joined the Millers from Brentford in 2019, lost six months of last season to injury but returned to action last month.

Last year he "expressed his desire" to represent the Republic of Ireland at international level and the FAI began an eligibility process for the Nigeria-born player.

He started out with Cork City in Ireland aged seven and played for Limerick in 2017 before his move to Brentford.

The two fixtures are part of the Republic's build-up to qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.
