Remember the fallen at services across Rotherham

DETAILS of this year’s Remembrance Sunday services across the borough have been finalised.

People will be able to pay their respects to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice at events in Rotherham, Swinton, Maltby, Mexborough and Conisbrough on Sunday, November 12, and at Denaby Main two days earlier.

The venues, dates and times are as follows:

Rotherham Minster — church service at 9.30am, followed by a parade to the war memorial in Clifton Park for a wreath-laying ceremony at 11am.

Swinton — St Margaret’s Church on Golden Smithies Lane: church service at 9.30am, followed by a parade to the war memorial for an act of remembrance at 11am. There will also be a buffet and drinks at Rowms Lane Social Club afterwards.

Maltby — Maltby Progressive Club (The Slip), Walters Road: meet at 10am, march to the memorial for a service at 10.45am. There will be drinks at The Slip afterwards.

Mexborough — Mexborough war memorial, Doncaster Road: there will be remembrance service at 11am, followed by drinks at Rowms Lane Social Club.

Conisbrough — St Peter’s Church, Church Street: remembrance service at 9.30am, followed by a parade on High Street to the war memorial. 

There will be two minutes’ silence and wreath laying service at 11am followed by tea and cakes in St Peter’s Community Rooms.

Denaby Main — All Saints Church, Church Walk: remembrance service at 10.15am on Friday, November 10, followed by a wreath laying service at the war memorial.
