Dawn Ingham (54), of Rawmarsh, left Haugh Road School, now known as Rawmarsh Community School, in 1980.

Dawn managed to reunite around 63 of her former classmates and five teachers at The Monkwood pub, Rawmarsh, who had been at the school between 1975 and 1981.

They included Chris Clapham, of Waitakere, New Zealand, who dropped in on the reunion while visiting relatives in the UK.

Another ex-pupil who travelled a long way to the reunion was Debbie Rice, who lives in Kinross, Scotland.

Dawn said: “It was really nice that everyone made that effort.

“It was amazing because you see people now and you know their face.

“I asked people to send in photos of how they were at school.

“It was amazing because you get talking to them and it’s like they were at school yesterday.

“We were sharing lots of memories of what we had done.”

Dawn last organised a reunion in the early 1990s and is hoping to arrange another celebration in 2020 to mark 40 years since the class of 1980 graduated.
