Rapist jailed for nine years

Glen Sambrook (43) admitted 11 offences including two rapes, one sex assault, six counts of sexual activity with a child and two counts of paying for sexual services of a child.

Police began investigating when the victim, who cannot be named, reported that Sambrook, formerly of Conisbrough, had raped and abused her over 13 months.

Det Con Nichole Russell said: “Although Sambrook has accepted responsibility for his awful crimes, this does not detract from the significant impact this abuse has had on his victim.

“He manipulated and exploited his teenage victim, forcing her to commit sexual acts against her will.

“I am pleased he is now behind bars and I hope his victim, who has been remarkably brave throughout our investigation, is reassured knowing her abuser is in prison and can no longer harm her.”

Sambrook was also given a restraining order when he was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court today.
