Rape trial jury retires to consider its verdict

A JURY has retired to consider its verdict in the case of a man accused of raping a schoolgirl.

Kenneth Plant (59), of High Greave Place, East Herringthorpe, has been on trial at Sheffield Crown Court charged with six offences against a girl aged between 12 and 14 between 2014 and 2016.

The jury in his trial retired at 2.46pm today (Friday) to consider its verdict after hearing four days of evidence.

Plant is accused of two charges of assault by penetration, two rapes, attempted rape and sexual assault against the same girl.

He denies all charges.
