Ram raid on Harthill store - LATEST
The damaged premises at McColl's in Harthill

A CONVENIENCE store was ram raided in the early hours of this morning.

The incident, at around 2am, saw the front shutters of McColl’s on Union Street, Harthill, smashed to gain entry.

Attempts were made to take a quantity of cigarettes but the offenders left empty handed.

Two vehicles, a dark saloon and a dark estate car, are thought to have been involved.

The ram raid came just days after another attack on the same shop last Saturday.

A police spokeswoman said: “Officers want to hear from anyone who has information about the incident, in addition to anyone who has information about people selling suspected stolen cigarettes.”

Anyone who can help should call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 quoting incident number 56 of October 4.
