Quality award for RCAT nursery

STAFF at a college nursery are celebrating after receiving recognition for their hard work in providing top quality learning experiences for youngsters.

Rotherham College of Arts and Technology’s Rother Valley Day Nursery was honoured with the Quality in Action award by Rotherham Borough Council for their commitment to quality.

At a celebratory event held at the Rother Valley Campus, parents and their little ones were invited to attend a buffet and to watch the council present the award to the nursery staff.

The achievement came after a number of improvements to customer care, which have seen the team developing links with parents and increasing communication including providing a notice board for parents, a “talking wall,” and Stay and Play sessions.

To mark the occasion, parents and toddlers took part in a tree planting ceremony.

Helen Talbot, assistant principal for RCAT, said: “This is a very proud moment for staff and for parents.

“The staff have worked so effectively as a cohesive team to provide a top quality provision for those children, parents and guardians who access the nursery provision.”

Sharon Stones, from the borough council, said: “The nursery staff constantly strive to improve their practice and provision and are proactive in reflecting on what they offer the children and how this can be improved.

“They are all very dedicated in their work and constantly put the needs of the children first.”
