Pub shut down after rat evidence found

A PUB has been shut down after hygiene officers found evidence of rats.

The Alex in Parkgate (pictured) was ordered to close with immediate effect after environmental health officers visited to investigate a complaint.

Business operator Garry Edwards was served with a hygiene emergency prohibition notice on February 20, banning him from using the premises for preparing or serving food to the public until further notice.

Last Wednesday, a hygiene emergency prohibition order was granted at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court and Edwards was ordered to pay the council £900 in costs.

The order means that the Hollybush Street pub will not be allowed to reopen until the council is satisfied that the pub no longer poses an imminent risk to health.
