Pub reopens after coronavirus customer returns second negative test

A PUB in Rotherham town centre forced to close for two days after a customer tested positive for Covid-19 has reopened — and the pubgoer has returned a second negative test.

The Rhinoceros pub in Bridgegate closed on Monday for a deep clean after the person who tested positive for the virus had visited the previous day.

Visitors were advised to get tested — but the scare turned out to be a false alarm.

A spokesperson said: “After Monday’s news and being closed for two days, it turns out the person who tested positive for Covid-19 had a second test which was negative.

“But still, as a precaution we have kept the pub closed until we knew our returning staff had also tested negative.

“The pub has been cleaned and there will be no staff returning to work until they have their results.”

The pub reopened this morning but the kitchen will remain closed until staff receive their test results.
