Pub fined for Covid breaches

A PUB at Kimberworth was hit with a £3,000 fine for breaching Covid-19 requirements.

But Rotherham Council would not say which venue, citing “legal advice”.

The pub was given fixed penalty notices of £2,000 for serving at the bar, and £1,000 for not closing at 10pm.

Cllr Emma Hoddinott, cabinet member for community safety, said: “The council is working hard to support businesses who are following the correct guidelines.

“But we will not hesitate to take action against businesses whose operation pose a serious and imminent risk to the health of their customers, staff and the wider community, to help keep Rotherham safe.”
