Meal on Wheels protesters are expected to gather alongside Bramley traffic campaigners and activists bidding to save green belt land from being dug up for thousands of new homes.

Other issues causing concern among campaigners are controversial plans for a wind farm near Ulley and the prospect of housing being built on Herringthorpe Playing Fields.

More than 2,000 leaflets featuring custard pies targeted at the council's logo are being distributed across the borough this week to make people aware of the mass protest.

Activist Rob Foulds, independent councillor Peter Thirlwall and other speakers are expected to address those assembled.

While Cllr Reg Littleboy, the secretary of the council's ruling Labour group, said that he respected the rights of those involved to demonstrate, he added that he did not agree with many of their reasons.
