Mark Fielding (37), who is also known as Mark Gibson, targeted Darc’r Gets Toxic in the Imperial Buildings on January 5 with sister Emma Carlisle (37) and her boyfriend, Robin Jennison (63).

The trio, all of Hall Crescent, Broom, admitted burglary at Sheffield Crown Court on October 13.

Recorder Tair Khan QC sentenced Fielding to two-and-a-half years in prison, half of which will be served on licence.

Fellow heroin addict Carlisle, who had 54 previous dishonesty offences on her record, was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years, given a 35-day rehabilitation requirement and ordered to undertake a six-month drug rehabilitation programme.

Getaway driver Jennison, who blamed medication for his offending, was given an eight-month jail sentence, suspended for 12 months.

Mr Andrew Smith, prosecuting, said Fielding had smashed windows and doors before stealing beauty products and electronic devices.

He also took a nail technician’s trolley and its contents, worth a total of £2,500.

The gang was arrested after Jennison’s vehicle was seen on CCTV near the salon.

Police recovered £845 worth of stolen items from their home, but nearly £2,000 worth of goods from the Imperial Buildings business have never been found.

Mr Smith said: “Fielding initially gave a no-comment interview to police, but later accepted responsibility and said he had taken some tablets, had been roaming around and went to the hairdressers.

“He went in, took items, called his sister and she came and assisted him with Jennison driving the car.”

Fielding, who became addicted to heroin aged 12, was on bail and in breach of a conditional discharge at the time of the burglary.

He also admitted two more counts of burglary and an attempted burglary.

The court heard he was seen on CCTV inside student accommodation on Edward Street, Sheffield, on December 11, 2016, at 1.30am trying to take a television off a wall in a communal area.

An hour later, he had returned and was seen trying to get the television out of the window after removing it from the wall.

Police were called but he had gone by the time they arrived.

Fielding also burgled Hype Dance Studio in Sheffield at 3am on September 14 this year.

Mr Smith said Fielding had ransacked the studio, stealing £1,561 worth of items, and had been seen on CCTV passing goods to two unidentified women.

Debbie Dennis, manager of Darc’r Gets Toxic, welcomed the sentences and praised the police for acting quickly.

She added after the hearing: “It was very upsetting to see the state of the salon.

“These people think they can just come in and take stuff you have worked hard for.”

Ms Dennis said the burglary had not deterred staff and the business had only been forced to close the morning after, but it had taken months to sort through the ransacked stock.
