Councillors and members of several organisations involved in the borough's Safer Neighbourhoods Teams gathered at Rotherham Town Hall yesterday to help launch the campaign, which is set to highlight the teams' role in the community.

The campaign, which uses a giant take on a traditional child's card game, mixing different heads and bodies, to demonstrate how various organisations play their part in the SNTs, will appear on bus shelters and buses throughout the borough.

Although the poster campaign was officially unveiled by the Mayor of Rotherham, Cllr Shaukat Ali, it was Cllr Jahangir Akhtar, Rotherham Borough Council's cabinet member for housing and neighbourhoods, who got into the spirit of things.

But even dressed in a combination of fire service trousers, Streetpride wardens' coat and a policeman's helmet ,he was eager to point out the importance of the SNT advertising campaign.

Cllr Akhtar said: ""All the emergency services are affected by antisocial behaviour, as well as the public, so its important that people contact the SNTs so that resources from the various organisations involved can be deployed, and the problem dealt with.

"This campaign will make people aware of the weight of support they have behind them."

The organisations involved in the borough's SNT partnerships include: South Yorkshire Police; the borough council; NHS Rotherham; the National Probation Service; South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service; Victim Support Rotherham; Rotherham and Barnsley Chamber of Commerce; and Youth Offending Services.
