Popular takeaway targeted by break in with till stolen

A TAKEAWAY had its till stolen as part of in an early morning burglary which was caught on camera.

A thief was filmed on CCTV trespassing at the premises of Fish King Rotherham, on Bawtry Road, at 3.35am on Wednesday.

Police were alerted by a member of the public to a break-in at the property at 7.40am.

The takeaway’s owners shared CCTV footage, which shows the intruder trying to hide their face, before appearing to hit the camera.

In a post on social media, Fish King appealed for help to find the person thief. 

“Due to an unexpected burglary, we will have a delay with our opening time today (Wednesday, May 18)., they said.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience — we are looking at opening back up at around 4pm. 

“If anyone has any idea of who this man could be, please ring the shop it would be much appreciated.”

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “Enquiries are ongoing at this time.

“Anyone with information which could assist with our enquiries is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 226 of 18 May.
