Police target troublesome bikers

MOUNTED and motorcycle officers have been riding the range in search of off-road offenders.

After receiving reports about anti-social behaviour, police and council officers from the Rotherham North Safer Neighbourhood Team arranged an operation to combat troublesome bikers.

PCSOs worked closely with Rotherham Council’s off-road motorcycles officer to help restrict access to fields, woods and common land last Thursday.

They seized and destroyed two dirt bikes, issuing three riders with warnings for using them irresponsibly.

PCSO Simon Ellis said: “This operation relied on most of our information coming from members of the public and this intelligence helped the team target specific areas.

“We would like to thank the public for the information and request that any future incidents of off-road motorcycle use or anti-social use of vehicles is reported to South Yorkshire Police.”

Anyone with details of illegal off-roaders can contact police on non-emergency number 101.
