Police seize drugs in raids

ILLEGAL drugs valued at more than £500 have been seized by Mexborough Safer Neighbourhood Team after concerns were raised by residents.

Warrants were granted to raid addresses suspected of drugs activity on Coniston Road and Windhill Terrace in Mexborough.

Drugs, including cannabis and heroin, were recovered from both addresses.

A 45-year-old man was arrested at the Coniston Road address for possession of drugs. A 39-year-old woman was arrested from Windhill Terrace for handling and possession of drugs.

Acting Inspector Jez Fitzgibbons from the Mexborough SNT said: “We will always act on the concerns of our residents and our priority is to make their area a safer place to live.  

“We will continue to make raids on property suspected of drugs activity, aswell as tackling any other concerns raised by the community.

“We are always available to speak to and I would urge members of the public to contact their SNT if they have any problems in their area.”
