Police say 'no risk' to Rotherham mosques after Ilford incident

POLICE in Rotherham have condemned an incident at a mosque in IIford last night (Thursday) after a shot was fired nearby and say there is "no risk" to the borough.

A spokesperson for the Rotherham Central Neighbourhood Policing Team said there was "no information to indicate any risk to our Muslim community".

"Police officers and PCSOs will be continuing to patrol mosques, especially around Ramadan as part of our ongoing plan to support our communities," the spokesperson added.

"Please do not be alarmed if you see any of our team. If anyone does have any concerns please report them immediately through 999 for emergencies or 101 for non-emergencies."

The spokesperson said their thoughts and well wishes are with the communities impacted in IIford.
