Police officers join Millers to show racism the red card

Children have been promotiong the national project, 'Show Racism the Red Card', by wearing T-shirts at home matches featuring the 'Take a stand against hate' logo.

Rotherham United Community Support Trust organised activities before the match against Wycombe Wanderers last month, to promote inclusion in football.

Jamie Noble, head of community at Rotherham United, said: “As a football club, we will not tolerate any form of hate crime in or around the New York Stadium on match days.

"We want all our fans both new and old to feel welcome on and the way we do this is by working hard in the community to promote those values.

"We work closely with minority groups, helping them in their daily lives and making sure they know that they are welcome without the risk of any discrimination.”  

Rotherham PC Chris Nicholson said: “Hate crime of any kind should not be tolerated and I’m pleased with how we, Rotherham United and other local partners and charities are coming together to take a stand against racism in football.

“We are lucky enough that we work closely with the community we are able to develop our understanding of the impact racism has on victims, and the support they find most useful.

“I would like to offer my reassurance that hate crime is not tolerated in Rotherham and we are working tirelessly to stop it.”
