There have been at least two cases in recent weeks in the popular attraction and police have now appealed to the public to help track him down.

Police say he does not approach people and always remains several yards away.

The offender does not appear to target anyone specifically, say the police, but they remain concerned and have teamed up with Clifton Park ranger staff in a bid to catch the culprit.

As yet no suspects have been identified.

Acting Insp Simon Kirkham said: “We really appreciate people’s concern over this matter and the alarm these sort of incidents can generate.

“There have been two or three occasions and it is from various distances. He does not appear to approach people.

“The offences have occurred from midday to the afternoon.”

Acting Insp Kirkham said a detailed description of the offender with details of the times of his offences would help tie in with data from CCTV cameras in the park.

“Descriptions have been fairly vague so far but it’s not an older person but nearer a younger age,” he said.

“His activities do not appear to be aimed at anybody in particular. It’s just an act in public where people can see.”

Acting Insp Kirkham urged people not to approach the man but to get as much information as possible and call 101 or tell a police officer or ranger in the park.

If an offence is underway, they should call 999.

He said: “The park is covered by numerous CCTV cameras and I ask our public to be accurate with descriptions, specific locations and times when making reports.

“In terms of personal safety, my advice would be to take the usual precautions you normally would when out in public places and to report any concerns to police or park staff.”
