Police hunt car-jacker

A THUG who assaulted a man before stealing his car is being sought by police.

Officers are appealing for information to help them track down the man who attacked the 31-year-old on a driveway at around 9.45pm on Wesley Avenue, Swallownest, on August 11.

The victim had parked his black Volkswagen Golf on the driveway when the incident unfolded.

A police spokesman said: “As he got out of the vehicle, an unknown male offender pushed him to the ground, stole his keys and drove away in the car.

“The victim was not hurt during the incident and the investigating officer is now appealing for anyone who saw what happened that evening, or if anyone has information about this incident, to contact the police.”

Investigating officer, Det Con Gary Luckock, said: “This incident happened on a residential street and I would like to speak to anyone who may have been looking out of their windows that evening and saw either someone acting suspiciously, or witnessed the incident as it happened.

“The black VW Golf has not yet been recovered and if anyone has any information as to where this 04-plate vehicle is, or thinks they know who may have taken it, please call us straight away.”
