Andy Foster, fraud protect officer for South Yorkshire Police, was contacted by the chairman of the Military Community Veterans Centre (MCVC) and attended their meeting at Silverwood Miners Welfare Club on Friday along with a representative from NatWest Bank.

“We covered a wide range of subjects from postal, telephone and courier fraud to internet-based scams," Mr Foster said.

“We also focussed on banking protocol - the way that banks work with partners to identify vulnerable people at risk of becoming victims of fraud. Working with partners like NatWest is important and helps with raising awareness of the issues we face around fraud and scams.”

Mr Foster said it was "an honour" to address the veterans and he was "suprised and humbled" to receive a certificate from them.

MCVC was set up to offer friendly help and advice on a wide range of issues for military personnel in and around Rotherham.
