POLICE have revealed the reason a police car was spotted parked on double yellow lines.

A concerned reader sent us this picture of a marked vehicle apparently parked illegally on double yellow lines and near a corner.

It was snapped at the entrance to the public car park off Maltby High Street on the afternoon of February 27.

The reader said: “There were plenty of spaces in the car park, which they must have seen, looking at which way the car is facing.”

A police spokeswoman said: “The vehicle was parked in this manner as it was retrieving emergency medication for a person in custody.”

Police vehicles are allowed to bypass parking restrictions in emergency situations.
