Police called to ‘gunman’ outside Brinsworth pub

AN investigation is underway after police received a report about a man with a firearm outside a Brinsworth pub.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said a report had been received at 10.57pm on Saturday about a man claiming to be in possession of a firearm outside The Thirsty Flame pub on Whitehill Lane. 

“No arrests were made and an investigation is ongoing,” she added. "No firearm was seen or used."

Thirsty Flame landlord, Trevor Ashforth, said: “We have not been visited by the police, we have not been contacted by the police — whatever incident took place has nothing to do with the Thirsty Flame public house.

“We (the pub) just happen to be quoted as nearby.”
