Police appeal to trace man wanted in connection with East Dene shooting

POLICE officers investigating a shooting in East Dene earlier this year are appealing for the public’s help to trace a wanted man.

Declan Duffy (22) is wanted in connection with the firearms discharge on Alpha Road on Thursday, January 27.

A 40-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was later discharged.

Two men, aged 21 and 40, have previously been arrested in connection with this incident and are currently released under investigation.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “Officers have been carrying out extensive enquiries since this incident including armed raids at a number of addresses.

“Police now want to hear from anyone who has seen or spoken to Duffy recently, or knows where he might be staying.

“He is described as white, around 5ft 3ins tall with light brown hair and a small beard/moustache.

“If you see Duffy, please do not approach him and instead call us on 999.

“If you have any information about where he might be, please call 101 quoting incident number 486 of January 27, 2022.

“Alternatively, you can stay completely anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers via their website Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling their UK Contact Centre on 0800 555 111.”
