The driver is not thought to have been involved, but officers believe they could have seen the mobility scooter in the moments prior to the collision.

The driver, or any passengers that may have been in the van, are urged to contact the Accident Witness Helpline on 0114 220 2970.

A red Renault Clio was damaged in the October 11 incident.

Mr Bonar’s family said: “James leaves a beloved wife, doting family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

“He will leave a great hole in all of our lives.”
