Plain clothes police ‘pound the streets’ to tackle anti-social behaviour

POLICE have conducted a number of stop and searches and issued cautions in a bid to “disrupt” anti-social behaviour in several areas of Rotherham.

PLAIN CLOTHES police have conducted a string of stop and searches and issued cautions in a bid to “disrupt” anti-social behaviour in several areas of Rotherham.

A spokesperson for the Rotherham South Neighbourhood Policing Team said in an online post: “Over the last month we have listened to our communities and have been pounding the streets of Thurcroft, Dinnington, Maltby, Kiveton Park and Wickersley in an attempt to tackle anti-social behaviour.

“You may not have seen us as we’ve done a lot if it in plain clothes. 

“This approach assists us in gathering intelligence and capturing those responsible for causing anti-social acts within the area. 

“A number of stop searches have been conducted yielding various quantities of drugs.  

“We have also issued cautions, community resolutions and referrals to the young offenders’ teams in an attempt to disrupt and stop this behaviour.

“We will continue to do this moving forward.”
