POLICE officers are out in Rotherham town centre today, enforcing the new lockdown measures.

The usually busy streets were mainly quiet but police officers and PCSOs could be seen speaking to individuals.

Our snapper said it was a lot quieter today compared to yesterday.

"There is certainly an increased police presence around town today, with a number of officers and PCSOs walking the town centre streets," said Dave.

"I could see some of the officers stopping people to ask if they were out for an essential purpose, and making sure they were planning on going straight home afterwards.

"It does seem people are starting to get the message."

However, in Eastwood yesterday, PCSOs from Rotherham's Central Neighbourhood Policing Team, had issued an £100 fine each to two men who had been drinking alcohol in Pocket Park.
