PICTURED: Tram Train route still suspended after crash

THE NEW Tram Train service is still suspended this morning (Friday) after one of the new hybrid vehicles was involved in a crash on its first day of public service.

The Tram Train route is suspended throughout and yellow services are still suspended between Cricket Inn Rd and Meadowhall. Supertrams are running to Cricket Inn Road from Middlewood and Sheffield City Centre.

The Tram Train derailed at around 3.30pm after colliding with a lorry on Staniforth Road, Attercliffe. Several passengers suffered minor injuries and an investigation is now underway.

Operator Stagecoach Supertram said it hoped to resume normal Tram Train service this afternoon.

Passengers are being advised that tram tickets will be valid on Stagecoach bus services, including the Maltby-to-Sheffield X1 Steel Link.
