PICTURED: The sickening moment woman drags dog in mid-air down Mexborough street

THIS is the sickening moment a woman dragged a dog in mid-air by its lead through the streets.

Passer-by Robyn-May Maris took pictures of the incident on Main Street, Mexborough, at around 11pm on Wednesday, July 30.

Ms Maris shared the pictures online, which left many Facebook users furious.

She said the dog was “crying and yelping” and struggling to breathe as it was being held up by its lead.

The eye-witness said she was too scared to intervene as she was on her own, adding: “I’ve been in floods of tears not knowing what to do as I could hear the dog crying.”

Ms Maris sent the photos onto the police and RSPCA, who confirmed they had launched an investigation.

A spokeswoman for RSPCA said: “The RSPCA has been contacted by members of the public with welfare concerns for a dog spotted on Main Street, Mexborough at approximately 11pm on Wednesday, July 30.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have information which helps identify the individuals seen with the dog at the time.”
