Firefighters from Edlington and Barnsley station came to the pair’s rescue in Todwick after the dog got stuck in the mud on Kiveton Lane while out walking.

A South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: “Its owner then tried to rescue it, but got stuck herself.

“Thankfully, firefighters arrived and used inflatable walkways to reach the pair and pull them to safety.

“Nothing a nice hot bath didn’t sort out!”
