YORKSHIRE lad Nik Page enjoyed a homecoming gig with a difference when he joined almost 800 children in making sweet music.

The singer, who once played Jean Valjean in a London production of Les Miserables and has worked with the likes of Billy Connolly, Jane MacDonald and The Drifters, was centre stage at Magna on Wednesday for Rotherham Music’s annual One Voice concerts.

The event, compered by BBC Radio Sheffield presenter Sile Sabanda, brought together pupils from schools all over the borough for two performances.

It featured renditions of George Ezra’s Shotgun, Christina Perri’s A Thousand Years, Queen’s We Will Rock You and a new song, Lullaby, which was being recorded to be released as a Christmas single. 

The previous day, 400 children who are learning instruments joined forces for the Big String and Big Blast concerts at the same venue.
