Robin Hood Airport could close after its owners announced it was not making "enough money"

A PETITION has been created in a bid to stop the closure of Robin Hood Airport.

Board members at the airport announced on Wednesday that a review is under way, saying it had “never reached the critical mass required to become profitable”.

The operators are currently assessing whether “aviation activity” is “commercially viable” at the site —blaming thepandemic, Wizz Air leaving DSA and environmental factors for a lack of success.

Many supporters have already flocked to back efforts to save the airport, which opened in 2005.

The petition currently has more than 13,000 signatures — if it reaches 100,000 the issue will be debated in Parliament.
