Pensioner taken to hospital after arson attack

A PENSIONER was taken to hospital after a neighbour’s flat door was set alight.

The woman (69) suffered from chest pains following the blaze on Barden Crescent, Brinsworth.

Two fire crews from Darnall station were called out shortly after 3am yesterday. They were at the scene for nearly two hours.

The occupants of the flat which was targeted escaped unharmed but the woman needed medical attention as a precaution.

On Sunday morning a building used as a recording studio was damaged by a bonfire blaze.

The flames spread to the six metre by four metre structure on Oxford Street, Clifton.

Two crews from Rotherham station were there for more than two-and-a-half hours from 3.45am on Sunday.

And firefighters in Mexborough rescued a dog which had fallen ten feet down a manhole.

They were called to Station Road, close to the United Carpets building, at 4.50pm on Sunday.
