Pensioner left "shaken" after masked burglars raid Thurcroft home

TWO masked men broke into a pensioner's Thurcroft home last night (Monday) and stole replica weapons.

Police were called to Rowena Drive at 11.20pm following reports of an aggravated burglary at the home of the 79-year-old man.

The men, both wearing balaclavas, stole a number of replica weapons, a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said.

The replica weapons were a Winchester rifle, a Colt 45 pistol, and a Colt 45 Navy pistol and two samurai swords.

"The victim was shaken but was not injured," said the spokeswoman.

"Officers are now using CCTV footage and working to identify the suspects."

The burglars were of a large build and spoke with local accents.

The spokeswoman said the replica weapons were of no risk to the public.
