Pensioner dies in Rotherham house fire

A MAN has died in a fire at his home in Rotherham.

Fire crews from Doncaster, Maltby and Rotherham tackled the blaze on Glaisdale Close, Laughton Common, on Sunday after being called out at 12.01pm.

A fire service spokesman said: “It is believed to have been a slow burning fire and it was already out when firefighters were called to the incident.

“A man, believed to be in his seventies, was sadly found to have died.

“A multi-agency investigation into the cause of the fire will now take place.”
