Pensioner (72) dies in Dinnington collision

A PENSIONER died after a single-car collision on a road in Dinnington yesterday (Monday).

Police were called to Todwick Road at 12.52pm where a grey Lexus NX had crossed the road and collided with trees and hedges, a police spokeswoman said.

Officers arriving at the scene found a man (72) in cardiac arrest and started CPR until ambulance crews arrived but they could not save him and he died shortly after arriving at hospital.

His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers, the spokeswoman said.

Officers believe the man may have been at the waste disposal site before heading onto Todwick Road.

They are keen to speak to anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the car before to the collision or any witnesses to the incident.
