Pedestrian (76) and pet dog killed in Bramley collision

A 76-year-old pedestrian and his dog were killed in a collision in Bramley last night (Thursday).

Officers received reports that a red Mercedes SLK was travelling down the A631 Bawtry Road towards Wickersley Roundabout when it was involved in a collision with a pedestrian and his dog at 5.40pm.

"The pedestrian, a 76-year-old man, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene," said a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police.

"His dog also died at the scene.

"His family are currently being supported by specially trained officers as our enquiries continue."

Following the crash, police closed the stretch of road near to Wickersley School and Sports College, diverting traffic through Flash Lane. 

Witnesses and anyone with dash-cam footage are urged to call 101 quoting incident 661 of December 12.
