Parking validation machines hit by Tesco power cut

SHOPPERS were evacuated from Tesco in Rotherham town centre after the store was hit by a UK-wide power cut.

The Advertiser understands the customer lift, tills and parking validation machines were all affected by the outage on Friday afternoon.

A spokesman said: “The store was closed for about 30 minutes until the power was restored and customers were able to continue their shopping.”

Responding to concerns shoppers unable to validate their free parking tickets using codes issued at the checkout could face fines, the spokesman said no complaints had been received about parking “but if a customer does have concerns they should get in touch with the store”.
