Parkgate singer to battle it out on this weekend's Britain's Got Talent final

AN ALL-female singing ensemble featuring a Parkgate performer has wowed TV audiences with renditions of wartime songs — and is now set to appear in this year’s Britain’s Got Talent final on Sunday.

Alexandra Hans (31), of Rawmarsh Hill in Parkgate, is a member of the D-Day Darlings, who first caught the nation’s heart when performing We’ll Meet Again on the popular talent show in May.

Alexandra (below), who runs The Voice Academy in Parkgate, has been a member of the decade-old group for four years.

She is also the granddaughter of James Staniforth, long-time director of Staniforths’, and the Parkgate bakery has immortalised her achievements with a special red-white-and-blue window display.

The D-Day Darlings, who make regular appearances at wartime-themed events and veterans parties, are supported by Dame Vera Lynn and the Royal British Legion, for whom they have raised funds.
