Parkgate Shopping closed over concerns for man

Officers attended Parkgate Shopping at 6.15am, closing Rotherham Road for just over an hour.

Staff and shoppers arriving at the retail park noted the police roadblocks on Facebook.

Sharan Jones posted: “Police cordoned off route from roundabout at mobility centre, traffic and pedestrians not allowed beyond this point.”

A police spokesman said officers were concerned for a man on a bridge over a waterway behind the shopping centre, but he eventually came down safely.

Rotherham Road reopened at around 7.20am.
