Park hit by vandalism

A COUNCILLOR alerted officials after reports of vandalism at a park in Dinnington.

Cllr Benjamin Whomersley said there had been several complaints from residents about damage at Triangle Park, off Nursery Road.

He said he was “shocked at how bad the condition of the park has become” and had been quick to inform RMBC of the issue because “children should be able to play safely in our local parks”.

Rotherham Council’s acting assistant director for community safety and street scene, Sam Barstow, said: “The council works hard to provide safe, clean, and well-maintained green spaces for residents to enjoy.

“We were disappointed to hear that Triangle Park in Dinnington has been subject to vandalism as we do not condone this kind of behaviour.

“We have spoken to our colleagues in South Yorkshire Police and the Local Neighbourhood Team will increase patrols in the area, and we hope that once the damage is fixed the public can go back to safely using this space.

“If residents have any information about those responsible, they can report their concerns to South Yorkshire Police or the council.”
