John Gilliver (33) and Liam McGuire (30) were members of an organised crime group operating in Mexborough.

They were already serving prison sentences in relation to violent disorder committed in December 2020.

Gilliver and McGuire were both jailed in August last year for two years and nine months after a motorist was rammed off the road and attacked at Conisbrough.

The investigation revealed the pair’s involvement in drug-dealing, which involved heroin stored in Kinder egg containers.

South Yorkshire Police had carried out raids in relation to the drugs conspiracy between January 2017 and July 2018. Class A and B substances were found, along with cash and weapons.

At Sheffield Crown Court on Friday, both men admitted to supplying class A drugs, and were given jail time concurrent to their original sentences.

Gilliver, formerly of Beech Road, was handed a further eight years and four months, while McGuire, formerly of Schofield Street, received an additional seven years and six months.

Det Con Mark Parry said: “This is certainly good news for the residents of Mexborough and surrounding areas, who had to put up with gang-related activity, including witnessing incidents of significant violence and drug supply, on a regular basis.

“Drug supply links to street violence and we are working tirelessly to put a stop to organised crime groups in South Yorkshire.

“If you have any information relating to the supply of drugs or any suspicious activity, please contact police or you can remain completely anonymous by passing information to Crimestoppers.”
