A PAEDOPHILE who downloaded child abuse images of girls as young as two and pornography depicting dead women tried to blame a former workmate when he was caught.

David Graham (35), who had more than 300 indecent images of children on his devices, was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court yesterday (Monday).

Ms Fatima Zafar, prosecuting, said police had raided Graham’s home in 2019 after they suspected that he had been downloading child sex abuse images.

They seized a USB stick and an HP laptop which were found to have 305 images on them — including 219 category A images, the most extreme kind of indecent image.

They had been downloaded between November 2015 and January 2019, Ms Zafar said.

The images included those of girls as young as two, animals and dead women.

Graham initially told police that a former workmate had given him the USB stick and, when he had looked at its contents, he had found them to be disgusting.

He later changed his story, telling police he had been in a “passionless” relationship with his ex-girlfriend and had stumbled across the images by accident while looking at pornography.

Graham, of Bawtry Road, Rotherham, pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs of children at an earlier hearing at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court.

Judge Graham Reeds spared Graham a prison sentence so he could complete a three-year sex offenders’ treatment programme.

He gave him a five-year sexual harm prevention order and ordered him to sign the sex offender’s register for five years.
