Overall A-level pass rate up on last year

STUDENTS in Rotherham have topped last year’s A-levels performance, increasing the town’s overall rate by 0.3 per cent to 97.7 per cent.

Thomas Rotherham College maintained its pass rate of 97 per cent getting an A* to E in their exams.

College Principal Dr Richard Williams said: “There have been some outstanding student performances.

“I would like to congratulate and thank students and staff for their hard work.”

Nationally the pass rate rose for the 29th year in a row taking it to 97.8 per cent (0.02 per cent up)—just above Rotherham’s average.

Students are now fighting it out for places at university ahead of next year’s controversial fee increase.
