Operation Fortify: Kilo of cannabis seized in Mexborough drug raid

POLICE have seized cannabis from a house in Mexborough as part of a crackdown on organised crime in the area.

Officers raided a house in Hirst Gate yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon and found 1kg of the class B drug drying in a room, a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said.

A 23-year-old man was arrested at the address and remained in police custody yesterday, added the spokeswoman.

The warrant, executed under the Misuse of Drugs Act, was part of Operation Fortify, which aims to tackle suspected organised crime and any associated criminality and antisocial behaviour in the Mexborough, Denaby and Conisbrough areas
