They were rushed to hospital but were left in a serious condition following the blaze.

An investigation by South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue revealed that the fire had been started by a cooker in the kitchen.

The incident is being described as “accidental.”

Mick Mason, from the fire service, described the inside of the semi-detached house as a “scene of devastation.”

He added: “The kitchen’s totally gutted and there’s quite severe smoke damage to the rest of the premises.”
