FIVE senior players are to leave Rotherham United and two have been offered new deals as the club announced its retained list today.
Billy Jones, Shaun MacDonald, Jamie Proctor, Clark Robertson and Kyle Vassell will move on when their contracts expire on June 30.
The management team have opened discussions with right-back Matt Olosunde (above) and goalkeeper Josh Vickers, both out of contact this summer, about the prospect of extending their stays.
Proctor spent four years with the Millers, much of it hampered by injury, while Vassell has been on loan at Fleetwood Town and Jones at Crewe Alexandra. Robertson had been expected to seek a new challenge elsewhere this summer while MacDonald had signalled his departure last weekend. All were part of the League One promotion-winning squad of 2019/20.
In a close season of many changes in personnel, loan men Lewis Wing, George Hirst, Jamal Blackman, Ryan Giles and Florian Jozefzoon will all return to their parent clubs on the conclusion of their loan spells with the Millers.
Manager Paul Warne told the club's website: “It goes without saying that it is a sad time of the year when the team splits up, you never get the same dressing room the following year.
“The lads who are leaving have all played a part in previous seasons and I would like to place on record my thanks to each and every one of them for their efforts during their time with us.
“We ask a lot of our players here and they are always happy to step up and perform for our great club and our town. On behalf of the players, staff and supporters at Rotherham United, I would like to sincerely thank each and every one of them and wish them nothing but success for the future.
