The Millers will be playing Championship football again next season after their rise from League One and it will cost just over a £1 per game more for adult supporters to attend matches at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Supporters posting on social media had no issue with the rise and expressed their gratitude for the figures being pegged for so long.

Twitter comments included:

"Not a big increase and fine by me."

"No complaints after being frozen for all these years."

"I would have put them up a few years ago. If people want success on the pitch it needs to be paid for. Still good value for money."

"That's fair enough. Could have been much worse. We were spoiled with a price freeze for so long."

"Cheap at half the price. Real value for money."

Renewals will begin at £380 in the North Stand kop and at £415 in the West and East Stands.

Rotherham will be trying to establish themselves in the second tier after coming within six minutes of survival the last time they were at that level two seasons ago. A late Cardiff City equaliser at the City of Cardiff Stadium condemned them to the drop.

In an open letter to fans, chairman Tony Stewart said: "This isn’t a decision that we have made lightly, and I can assure you that we will always strive to make football here affordable to as many people in our community as possible.

"It is time to embark upon another journey in the Championship in which everyone at the club feels we have unfinished business to attend to.

"Our efforts in the same division two years ago were colossal and in the end it was heart-breaking to see us slip out of the league on the final day at Cardiff City, having successfully navigated so many challenges along the way.

"We are not going into the Championship to make up the numbers."

The Millers have yet to announce when tickets will go on sale.
