No sentence cut for child predator who groomed 14-year-old girl

A SEX offender who groomed and abused a vulnerable 14-year-old girl has failed in a challenge to his eight-year jail term.

Christopher Mathew Hill (36) left his traumatised victim fearing she was pregnant after he preyed on her.

Hill, of Marlowe Road, Herringthorpe, Rotherham, was jailed last November after being convicted of two counts of sexual activity with a child at Sheffield Crown Court.

London’s Appeal Court heard him argue that he was treated too harshly, with his lawyers saying no force was used and Hill had no previous convictions for sex crimes.

But Lord Justice Flaux  said: “These were very serious offences, aggravated by the significant disparity in age, the grooming and giving rise to a fear of pregnancy.

“The law is there to stop young girls being predated upon by significantly older men such as this appellant and this appeal is dismissed.”
